(Updated!) Vulnerability in your Windows operating system can be exploited
Microsoft issued a security advisory on July 16th warning users about a vulnerability in Windows XP, Vista, and Windows 7 operating systems, as well as Windows servers.
Update! Microsoft has now issued a patch for this vulnerability. To make sure that you download this patch, turn on Automatic Updates.
Essentially, a Windows Shell flaw allows malware to take control of your machine through shortcuts (such as on your Desktop). Microsoft warns that this flaw can easily be exploited through the use of removable drives, like portable flash drives.
